Welcome to Sparkle Quest

Your Quest Starts Here
Three simple steps to help your child get the most out of Sparkle Quest.

Ask About Their Feelings
Every feeling is welcome.
Start by asking your child how they feel about getting a vaccine. Listen without correcting or dismissing their worries. Acknowledging their emotions helps them feel heard and supported.

Play Together
Be their Quest Buddy.
Sparkle Quest is designed for parents and children to play side by side. Join Yani’s adventure together, celebrate small wins, and use the game as a chance to talk about bravery and vaccinations.

Start Before Vaccination Day
Give bravery time to grow.
For the best experience, we recommend playing Sparkle Quest about 2 weeks before your child’s vaccination appointment. Short, regular play sessions help children become more familiar and comfortable over time.

Now, Let’s Play!

Feels Like Fun.
Builds Real Confidence.
The Magic Behind the Play
In Yani’s Sparkle Quest, children explore fun, comforting mini-games inspired by the CARD system (Comfort, Ask, Relax, Distract), helping them feel more at ease, confident, and in control during their vaccination journey.

Hot Chocolate
Help Yani cool down a cup of hot chocolate by taking slow, deep breaths together. Breathe in as if you’re smelling the warm chocolate, then breathe out as if you’re blowing to cool it down.
Deep breathing is a simple relaxation strategy that helps children slow their breathing and reduce feelings of nervousness. Practicing this skill through play makes it easier to remember and use during stressful moments, like getting a vaccine.

I Spy
Search around the barangay with Yani and tap the objects she finds.
Finding and counting familiar objects together helps children focus on the present moment instead of anxious thoughts. Counting with your child gently redirects their attention to their surroundings while creating a calm, shared moment through play.

Meet the Tools
Help Mingming pack her toy doctor kit while discovering the tools used during vaccination.
Fear often comes from the unknown. Becoming familiar with medical tools before a healthcare visit helps children understand what to expect and can make the experience feel less intimidating.

Play Doctor
Become the doctor and guide Yani through a pretend vaccination by completing each step of the process.
Pretend play gives children a safe space to practice new experiences. By taking on the role of the doctor, children can explore the vaccination process with curiosity, confidence, and a sense of control.

Oreo’s Mixtape
Tap along to the music with Oreo and keep the rhythm going.
Engaging with music and rhythm helps direct attention toward an enjoyable activity. During healthcare procedures, distraction techniques can make waiting or receiving a vaccine feel more manageable.
Welcome to the Sparkle Dictionary!
Every quest has its own special words. Here’s what they mean and how they help make vaccination feel a little less scary.
Brave Badge
A special bandage earned after getting a Sparkle Shot.
Instead of seeing a bandage as a reminder of fear, the Brave Badge celebrates courage and becomes something children can wear with pride.
Brave Skills
The confidence-building skills children practice while playing.
From deep breathing and grounding to medical play and learning about vaccination tools, each activity helps children build coping skills they can use beyond the game.
Sparkle Quest
A special bandage earned after getting a Sparkle Shot.
Instead of seeing a bandage as a reminder of fear, the Brave Badge celebrates courage and becomes something children can wear with pride.
Sparkle Meter
A confidence meter that fills as children complete activities and practice bravery skills.
Every game helps the Sparkle Meter grow. When it’s full, Yani is ready to visit Dok and earn her Brave Badge.
Sparkle Shot
The child-friendly name for the vaccine in Sparkle Quest.
Using gentle, familiar language helps introduce vaccination in a positive way while still preparing children for the real experience.
Wiggle Bubbles
The butterflies or “wiggles” children feel when they’re nervous or worried.
Giving anxiety a playful name helps children recognize and talk about their feelings more easily, making those emotions feel less overwhelming.
